Kaoru Aou, Dow Chemical, “How Can We Innovate Like a Tech Startup in a Large Corporation - The Perspectives of a PSE Alum in Industrial Research”

Kaoru will be describing his perspective on innovating like a startup but in a large corporation, in part through stories around the development of breakthrough VORA Zzz(TM) high airflow polyurethane (PU) viscoelastic foam technologies, and the award winning TERAFORCE(TM) resin coating product line for silica sand proppants used in hydraulic fracturing.


BIO
Kaoru is a Principal Research Scientist from The Dow Chemical Company, stationed at the Texas Innovation Center in Lake Jackson, and a recognized expert in polyurethane memory foams and resin coated particles. Dr. Aou has to his name 7 granted U.S. patents, several pending IP, 10 peer-reviewed journal papers and 3 conference papers. He is a Dow-certified Six Sigma Black Belt. Kaoru received his B.A. degree in Chemical Engineering at MIT, and his M.S. / Ph.D. degrees in PSE at UMass Amherst. He joined Dow in 2007.
