Materials Engineering Certificate Program

This program is a 15-credit certificate available to Chemical Engineering and Mechanical & Industrial Engineering students in the College of Engineering at UMass, Amherst.

In addition to MIE 201 and MIE 302, the required courses for this certificate are:

  1. ChE/MIE 571 (3 credtis) – Physical & Chemical Processing of Materials
  2. ChE/MIE 572 (1 credit) – Physical & Chemical Processing of Materials Project
  3. ChE 573 (1 credit) – Materials Science & Engineering Project
  4. MIE/ChE 590C (3 credits) – Mechanical Behavior of Materials
  5. ChE/MIE 579 or other 500-level advanced materials course (3 credits) – Advanced Materials Engineering
