Collaborative UMass Research Enables Tailor-made Zeolite Catalysts for Sophisticated New Applications

Illustration of a Zeolite Nanoporous Catalyst

An interdisciplinary collaboration among Wei Fan of the Chemical Engineering Department, Principal Investigator Scott Auerbach of the Chemistry Department, and other UMass researchers promises to advance our understanding of zeolite catalyst structure and lead to new materials for clean energy and carbon capture, among other applications. The researchers hope their work will enable tailor-made zeolites for use in sophisticated new functions. Media publicity was triggered by their cover story in a recent issue of the Journal of the American Chemical Society and a subsequent UMass News Office release.
